(1) Electing Democrats: Florida's historic 2010 elections will decide on u.s. senator, U.S. house member(s), governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, Commissioner of Agriculture & numerous state senate & house seats, as well as several constitutional amendments, among other races at county & local levels.
Primary elections on August 24th & General ELections November 2, 2010. To register to vote, please contact the supervisor of elections in the county where you live.
Its easy to register or change your address online. these candidates need your vote.
(2) Immigration Reform: the controversial Arizona state immigration law has been challenged by a Federal Government lawsuit and several provisions were struck down, delaying introduction of similar legislation by florida lawmakers. Contact your legislators & tell them we don't want arizona-type laws in florida.
(3) rebuilding haiti: The interim haiti recovery commission, co-chaired by haitian prime minister max bellerive and president bill clinton, has filled most of the top administrative positions and is accepting project proposals for funding at its website www.CIRH.ht. DHACF Palm Beach Chapter President Major Joe Bernadel is the appointed representative of the haitian diaspora on the interim haiti commission.

South Florida schools took in 2800 Haitian children evacuated after the January 12th earthquake that killed over 230,000 & made 1.5 million homeless. Miramar High School took in the most Haitian students up to June.
THE 2010 NATIONAL CENSUS-census is confidential & can not be used by immigration or law enforcement. if you missed the april, 2010 deadline to mail it back, a census worker will visit your home to record the information.
TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE STATUS (TPS) FOR HAITIANS Extended!
deadline to apply was extended from july 12, 2010 to January, 2011.
Approximately 50,000 Haitians applied for TPS since the Haiti Earthquake and about 25,000 applicants have received TPS status for 18 months.
